Base Power Takes Steps To Expand Into PJM With Retail, Battery Offering

Base Retail, LLC applied for an Illinois alternative retail electric supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, at Commonwealth Edison
Base Retail, LLC has also applied for FERC electric market-based rate authority
In the Illinois ARES application, Base Retail, LLC said that it does not have any other retail electric supplier license applications pending, nor is the entity Base Retail, LLC yet licensed in any state. An affiliate, Base Texas REP, LLC, is an active Texas retail electric provider
In its FERC MBR application, Base Retail, LLC said that it will, "offer services that will reduce the capacity obligation of its customers, which it seeks to commence as soon as possible."
Similar to the offerings of Base Texas REP, LLC, Base Retail, LLC said in the Illinois application that the company would use the Illinois retail electric supplier license to, among other things, provide Illinois consumers, "with whole home back up power during outages
and levelized billing with stabilization methodology[.]"
Base Retail, LLC disclosed that its affiliate Base Power Development, LLC owns distributed energy resources in the form of residential behind-the-meter battery storage systems with an aggregate capacity of approximately 200 MW located within ERCOT.
Base had announced plans to expand nationally last year, in also announcing that it had raised $1 billion in Series C financing (see details here)
