License Briefs, 3/9/26

Update On Texas Retail Energy

Texas Retail Energy (Walmart's self-supplier) has made filings in Pennsylvania and Texas to provide an update on its retail electric supplier licenses, following an Ohio update which was first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com (see background here, the Ohio filing references a transition to a third-party retailer and "eliminat[ion]" of staff). Notably, Texas Retail Energy's March 9 filing in Texas does not reference any transition to a new third-party retailer, which the Ohio and Pennsylvania filings do, though ECM stresses that this different language should not be seen as a dispositive indication on the issue in any manner. The Texas filing also says that Texas Retail Energy "has made staff changes", rather than the language used in Ohio and Pennsylvania ("has eliminated their staff").
