Utility Seeks Change To Customer List Provided To Retail Suppliers
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
As part of a new electricity rate case, Duke Energy Ohio has proposed a change in the customer lists provided to retail electric suppliers
Specifically, Duke Energy Ohio has proposed to strike from the information included in the Pre-Enrollment End-use Customer Information List the field "Budget Bill/PIPP Indicator"
Duke Energy Ohio said that the Budget bill/PIPP indicator, "is not needed," and that, "the item is not
necessary". Duke Energy Ohio did not further elaborate on the rationale for the change
Duke Energy Ohio's list is described as an End-use Customer Information List, rather than an eligible customer list
As such, it appears that the list may include all customers, and not only customers eligible to shop
PIPP customers are not eligible to individually shop for a retail supplier in Ohio
As such, to the extent the End-use Customer Information List does include PIPP customers, a customer's status as PIPP may be of use to retail suppliers so as to not market to such customers
