PSC Establishes Deadline For License Renewal Applications For Next Batch Of Retail Suppliers & Brokers, Sets 2026 Expiration Dates For Over 70 Suppliers

The Maryland PSC has established expiration dates and renewal application deadlines for some 70 retail energy suppliers and brokers with residential service authority, under the PSC's previously reported staggered expiration and renewal process under SB1
For all suppliers and brokers listed in the PSC's April 22 order, the license renewal application filing deadline is May 29, 2026
Licenses for such entities will expire on a rolling basis from June 28, 2026 through October 30, 2026

The PSC maintained the license renewal fee as $1,000 per license. Suppliers and brokers offering both electric and gas supply must re-apply for two separate licenses and pay a total of $2,000.
As previously reported, the PSC has delegated to PSC Staff the ability to approve renewals and license relinquishments which meet certain previously reported criteria (which are quite narrow such as "no history" of complaints in the past 3 years, see story here)
