AEP Ohio Residential & Small Commercial Combined Energy & Capacity Rates Increasing On June 1

AEP Ohio has filed rates under the bypassable Generation Energy Rider and bypassable Generation Capacity Rider, which make up the majority of the Standard Service Offer rate, for the 12-month period beginning June 1, 2026
Additional riders are also bypassable, including but not limited to the Alternative Energy Rider and Auction Cost Reconciliation Rider. The total price to compare includes these additional riders, which are updated on a separate schedule from the Energy and Capacity rates (typically, these other riders are adjusted quarterly, in the middle of a PTC term, with the next update expected on July 1)
For RS residential customers (non-PIPP), the rate under the combined AEP Ohio Generation Energy Rider and Generation Capacity Rider is 10.167 cents per kWh for the period June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027, or marginally higher than the current combined energy and capacity rate of 9.986 cents per kWh. While the Generation Energy Rider tariff has a summer and winter period, the new RS energy rates are identical for the summer 2026 period and winter 2026-27 period
For GS-NDM (Non Demand Metered) customers, the rate under the combined Generation Energy Rider and Generation Capacity Rider is 9.806 cents per kWh for the period June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027, or marginally higher than the current combined energy and capacity rate of 9.573 cents per kWh. While the Generation Energy Rider tariff has a summer and winter period, the new GS-NDM (Non Demand Metered) energy rates are identical for the summer 2026 period and winter 2026-27 period
For GS Demand Metered Secondary customers (excluding the TOU and legacy TOD GS rate classes), the rate under the combined Generation Energy Rider and Generation Capacity Rider is 9.732 cents per kWh for the period June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027, or marginally higher than the current combined energy and capacity rate of 9.506 cents per kWh. While the Generation Energy Rider tariff has a summer and winter period, the new GS Demand Metered Secondary energy rates are identical for the summer 2026 period and winter 2026-27 period
