Baltimore Gas & Electric has filed new electricity SOS rates in Maryland

Specifically, BGE filed new SOS energy rates for the period October 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027 for residential and Type I customers, and new SOS energy rates for the period June 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026 for Type II customers

Additionally, BGE filed an update to the bypassable SOS admin. charge effective June 1, 2026. The SOS admin. charge typically changes every four months, and a new SOS admin. charge is likely to be in place coincident to the new October 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027 mass market SOS rates taking effect

Separately, BGE also filed an update to bypassable Rider 8 - Energy Cost Adjustment (reconciliation)

More specifically, the total SOS Administrative Charges for Residential, Type I and Type II, and Hourly Service customers will change effective with usage on or after June 1, 2026 from 4.77 mills per kWh, 4.18 mills per kWh, 3.27 mills per kWh and 2.62 mills per kWh to be 4.47 mills per kWh, 3.76 mills per kWh, 3.52 mills per kWh, and 3.01 mills per kWh, respectively.

As a result of the update to the SOS Admin Charge, the June 1, 2026 to Sept. 30, 2026 "Total Generation Rate" for Schedule R residential customers (where the base "Energy Rate" was previously set and is not changing) will be 12.519 cents per kWh, versus the previous indicative June 1, 2026 rate of 12.550 cents per kWh. The "Total Generation Rate" includes the base Energy Rate, the SOS Admin. Charge, and Applicable Taxes on such rates, but does not include bypassable transmission and does not include bypassable Rider 8

Due to the expected future change in the SOS Admin. charge, the base "Energy Rate" for Schedule R residential customers will be compared, excluding the SOS Admin. charge and taxes, as opposed to using the "Total Generation Rate". The Schedule R residential customer "Energy Rate" will be 12.507 cents per kWh for October 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027, versus the summer 2026 "Energy Rate" of 12.032 cents per kWh

As a result of the update to the SOS Admin Charge, the June 1, 2026 to Sept. 30, 2026 "Total Generation Rate" for Schedule G Type I customers (where the base "Energy Rate" was previously set and is not changing) will be 12.140 cents per kWh, versus the previous indicative June 1, 2026 rate of 12.182 cents per kWh. The "Total Generation Rate" includes the base Energy Rate, the Admin. Charge, and Applicable Taxes on such rates, but does not include bypassable transmission and does not include bypassable Rider 8

Due to the expected future change in the SOS Admin. charge, the base "Energy Rate" for Schedule G Type I customers will be compared, excluding the SOS Admin. charge and taxes. The Schedule G Type I customer "Energy Rate" will be 11.625 cents per kWh for October 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027, versus the summer 2026 "Energy Rate" of 11.725 cents per kWh

For the update to BGE's bypassable Rider 8 - Energy Cost Adjustment, to be effective June 2026 through September 2026, notable changes include a total 1 cent per kWh swing in Rider 8 for Type I G and GS customers, from a current charge of about 7 mills per kWh to a credit of nearly 3 mills per kWh to be effective June 1

Additionally, for Type II G and GS customers, the Rider 8 charge is falling from the current charge of about 2 cents per kWh to a charge of just under 0.5 cents per kWh effective June 1

BGE will also file an update to its bypassable transmission rate later in May

Full details on the new rates, including rates for additional classes, may be found in the tariffs linked below
