Nstar Residential, Small C&I Default Service Rates To Increase 14-16%

Nstar (Eversource) in Massachusetts has filed new basic service electricity rates for its western Massachusetts service area (WMA, formerly WMECO), for the periods beginning August 1, 2026
All prices below include the currently effective Basic Service Adders, Renewable Portfolio Standard, Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard, Clean Energy Standard, and Clean Peak Standard Adders. Nstar's Basic Service Cost Adjustment is typically filed in the fall, to change the Basic Service Cost Adjustment effective on or about January 1 of each year (though the effective date may be later based on when a DPU order is issued)
The filed new WMECO fixed residential basic service rate for the period August 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027, using currently effective adders, is 15.934¢/kWh, or 16% higher than the current rate of 13.683¢/kWh
The filed new WMECO fixed small C&I basic service rate for the period August 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027, using currently effective adders, is 15.604¢/kWh, or 14% higher than the current rate of 13.634¢/kWh
