ComEd Bypassable PEA Returns To Historic Level

Commonwealth Edison has filed the bypassable Purchased Electricity Adjustment Factor (PEA) for June 2026, which serves as a reconciliation factor for electricity default service and which, although bypassable, is not part of the official price to compare
ComEd's PEA for non-hourly default service customers (such as residential and small C&I) will be a charge of 0.230 cents per kWh for the June 2026 Monthly Billing Period.
That's more in line with the historic monthly PEA charges or credits
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, ComEd's PEA for May 2026 was a charge of 8.166 cents per kWh, which resulted in a customer's total default service rate increasing by about 65%, from about 10.8 cents per kWh to nearly 18 cents per kWh, for the month of May. As noted, while the total bypassable cost rose to 18 cents in May, since the PEA is not included in the price to compare, the PTC remained at about 9.6 cents per kWh in May.
