New Texas Broker Launches "Lowest-Cost Home Energy Plan in Houston for Bundled Solar, Battery Backup, and Retail Electricity"

Terra Energy, which describes itself as one of the nation’s fastest-growing residential solar providers and which recently registered as a Texas retail electric broker as first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, today launched TerraOne, which Terra Energy termed, "an integrated home energy plan that bundles rooftop solar, whole-home battery backup, and electricity service into a single bill."
A page on Terra Energy's website for partners promoting what appears to be the same plan based on its characteristics (though named Terra Energy Grid Home Services rather than TerraOne) indicates that retail electric service is provided by Light Energy LLC.
Per the Terra Energy Grid Home Services page, Light Energy can use up to 20% of the battery to sell power back to the grid during peak events. The customer always keeps 80% access to their battery, the page states. The rest of the time, the battery runs in self-consumption mode -- discharging overnight to lower the bill
The Terra Energy Grid Home Services page lists the energy rate under its 36-month retail electric plan in the CenterPoint Houston area as 11.33¢/kWh, plus a base charge of $9.00/month and TDU charges
The Terra Energy Grid Home Services page lists a solar buyback credit of ~4¢/kWh exported
As noted below, Terra Energy states that TerraOne customers may qualify for an "effective" energy rate as low as 6 cents per kWh before delivery charges; it is unclear if as used by TerraOne this reflects the solar buyback as an offset (the Terra Energy Grid Home Services page specifically notes that the "effective" 6 cent energy rate reflects an offset from grid exports)
"Now available in Houston, TerraOne is lower-cost and lower-commitment than any other offering on the market today," Terra Energy said
"TerraOne delivers a three-year rooftop solar plus 40-kWh battery subscription and electricity service at the lowest rate on the market, with no upfront fees, no purchase, no loan, and no lien required," Terra Energy said
"For qualifying Houston customers, TerraOne can deliver an effective monthly rate as low as 6¢/kWh before delivery charges, based on usage, system design, and program eligibility," Terra Energy said
"TerraOne delivers complete home resiliency in a single subscription. The plan includes rooftop solar that can be sized to offset up to 100% of a home’s annual electricity use, and a battery up to 40 kWh capable of backing up most homes, including air conditioning. Terra handles installation, maintenance, repairs, and insurance, with zero upfront cost to the homeowner," Terra Energy said
"TerraOne also marks Terra’s entry into the virtual power plant space, positioning the company to help address the rapid growth of demand from data centers and AI buildout. As more homes enroll, Terra aggregates solar and storage into a flexible and reliable distributed power source," Terra Energy said
"Terra’s expansion into Texas follows its rapid growth in Florida, where the company became the state’s largest residential solar provider in 18 months. Terra is moving from a deliberately measured rollout to mass-market growth, betting that a simple energy service for homeowners can drive broad adoption," Terra Energy said
