PUC Terminates Retail Supplier's Participation In Utility's Choice Program
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
A PUC of Ohio ALJ has approved the request of Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, LLC to terminate SunSea Energy OH LLC's participation in Vectren's natural gas choice program
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Vectren alleged that SunSea Energy Ohio LLC is in default with various provisions of Vectren's tariff and pooling agreement, including the minimum customer and volume requirement
Specifically, Vectren alleged that, on February 24, 2026, SunSea failed to meet the minimum customer base requirements contained in Vectren's Tariff (and allegedly continues to not meet such), which require a Choice Supplier to maintain a minimum customer base of at least one hundred (100) active customers or a sales forecast of ten thousand (10,000) Mcf of annual projected Customer sales
Vectren alleged that as of May 2026, SunSea's customer base at Vectren Ohio was 81 customers, "at a sales volume of approximately 4813 Mcf".
Vectren alleged that SunSea has not responded to notices of default sent by Vectren, nor has Vectren been able to reach SunSea through various other means. The PUCO ALJ noted that SunSea did not file any response to Vectren's petition for approval to terminate SunSea's participation in the choice program
Vectren was authorized to begin transitioning SunSea’s remaining customers to alternate supply options or, if no alternate supply option is feasible or chosen by the customer, to Vectren's default sales service.
