People's Power & Gas Receives Maine Electric License
The Maine PUC granted People's Power & Gas LLC an electric supplier license to serve all customer classes in all service areas. As first reported by Matters (4/4), People's Power & Gas is a start-up seeking licenses in about 10 states, led by David Pearsall, who previously founded and led Public Power & Utility. In granting the Maine license, the PUC reduced the security required of People's Power & Gas from $100,000 to $10,000. In requesting the lower security, People's Power & Gas had said that that Maine would not be a target market, and that it did not believe it would have more than 250 customers there. As required in prior orders adjusting the security requirement, the PUC will require People's Power & Gas to file quarterly reports on sales volumes, customers, and revenues to monitor if the current security remains appropriate.
