As expected, MC Squared Energy Services, LLC has launched residential electricity service at Commonwealth Edison.
MC Squared said that it is using an "innovative pricing model [which] provides each customer with an online custom supply-price offer based on their historical electricity usage."
The custom residential pricing will be a fixed rate for 12 months or 24 months.
"We know that everyone's home electricity usage is different. So instead of offering a 'one-size-fits-all' rate like most of our competitors do, we provide homeowners with a customized price based on their historical electricity usage," said Chuck Sutton, president of MC Squared Energy Services.
MC Squared Energy Services said that it believes that it's the only retail electricity supplier in northern Illinois to provide residential customers with an online, real-time, custom quote based on their historical electricity usage. Nordic Energy Services also offers custom residential pricing online, but it is not clear if the pricing is real-time.
MC Squared Energy Services' license amendment to serve residential customers was first reported by Matters (6/7).
MC Squared Energy Services also offers a 100% green fixed rate option for residential customers. There are no early termination fees for residential service.
Additionally, MC Squared Energy Services will make a $5 donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana for each residential customer that signs up through December 2011
MC Squared Energy Services will use utility consolidated billing for residential customers.
