The Illinois Senate today voted down the latest version of the Tenaksa clean coal bill (SB 678), but the measure is still alive.

The Senate voted down the revised bill 31-25.

However, Senate President John Cullerton used a parliamentary maneuver to keep the bill alive by placing it on "postponed consideration."

The measure may now be brought up again during the veto session or next year.

The bill would have require utilities and retail suppliers to enter sourcing agreements for output from the plant.
