PPL Electric Utilities has posted results from its October 18, 2011 procurement of default service supplies.

For residential customers, the average winning price for 12 month, full requirements contracts was $68.46/MWh, and the average winning price for 24 month, full requirements contracts was $73.19/MWh.

All prices cited in this story do not reflect the gross up for line losses and taxes to derive the retail price to customers.

For small commercial customers, the average winning price for 12 month, full requirements contracts was $71.40/MWh, and the average winning price for 24 month, full requirements contracts was $76.59/MWh.

The delivery periods for all of the cited full requirements contracts start December 1, 2011. The 12-month contracts represented about 11% of load for each respective customer class, and the 24-month contracts represented about 5% of load.

PPL also procured 50 MW of block energy for residential customers, for a 12-month period beginning December 1, 2011, at a price of $47.02/MWh.

PPL once again solicited supplies for an optional monthly priced service as an alternative to hourly pricing for large commercial and industrial customers; however, as in past RFPs, no suppliers bid to serve the optional monthly priced service for large customers. As such, the fixed price alternative shall not be offered to large customers at this time.

PPL also procured alternative energy credits in the auction. Winning AEC prices may be found on PPL's website
