D.C. to Close Investigation of Portfolio Management for SOS

The District of Columbia intends to close Formal Case 1047, which had been the venue for a review of residential SOS structure and procurement design initiated by the People's Counsel, stating that, "there are no further issues to be decided in this proceeding." OPC had sought use of a managed portfolio approach dating back to 2006, but in 2008 the PSC issued an order extending Pepco's SOS franchise and procurement method until it directs otherwise. Parties have 15 days to submit comments listing any unresolved issues remaining in the proceeding that would require further action by the Commission.

World Energy Solutions Reports Increased Earnings

World Energy Solutions reported net income of $855,000 for the three months ended September 30, 2011, up from net income of $147,000 a year ago. Non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA was higher at $1.3 million, versus $667,000 in the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the three months ended September 30, 2011 was $5.6 million versus $4.7 million a year ago. For the first nine months of the year, World Energy reported that its Retail segment has seen continued success in the Pennsylvania electricity market and further growth in its channel partner network.

TXU Energy Awarded Contract for Irving Convention Center

TXU Energy has been awarded a supply contract for the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. The Irving Convention Center will purchase from TXU 100 percent Green-e Certified Renewable Energy produced in Texas. Under the contract with TXU Energy, the center also is eligible for Brighten GreenBack, an energy-saving solution from TXU Energy that offers rebates on future energy-efficiency initiatives. The program can pay for electric vehicles and charging stations or for further energy-efficiency upgrades.

Direct Energy Sponsorship Saves Harrisburg Holiday Parade

Direct Energy announced today that it will be the grand sponsor for Harrisburg's annual holiday parade later this month, helping to save the parade from cancellation due to the city's financial problems. Direct contributed $20,000, and the parade will be known as The Harrisburg Holiday Parade - Sponsored by Direct Energy. "We are fully committed to helping the communities in which we live and work," said Cory Byzewski, Vice President for Direct Energy. "We wanted to ensure that the city of Harrisburg has its historic parade and this is just one more way for Direct Energy to serve its customers in the community."
