Dominion East Ohio Sees Choice Enrollments Drop by 25,000

More than 25,000 residential customers left competitive supply at Dominion East Ohio during the three months ended September 2011, compared to the total as of June 2011, according to newly posted migration data from PUCO.

At Dominion East Ohio, residential migration was 847,000 accounts, a decline of 25,000 versus the June 2011 total of 872,000. The PUCO data lists the amount of choice-eligible customers as constant during this same period.
For comparison, from March 2011 to June 2011, Dominion East Ohio had seen net growth of 1,100 migrated residential accounts.
Columbia Gas of Ohio also saw a significant decline in residential migration from June 2011 to September 2011. Migrated residential customers declined by 10,000 during the period, to 491,000. Columbia Gas saw choice-eligible accounts decrease by 16,000, from 1.213 million to 1.197 million, over the same period.
From March 2011 to June 2011, Columbia Gas had seen net migration growth of nearly 7,900 residential accounts.
Vectren Energy Delivery saw residential migration decline by 2,500 accounts from June 2011 to September 2011, which is about even with the net loss of migrated customers seen from March 2011 to June 2011.
Duke Energy Ohio (the only service area without a Standard Choice Offer or Standard Service Offer auction) was the only territory to experience residential migration growth from June 2011 to September 2011, with a net gain of 3,900 migrated residential customers during this period.
