Direct Energy has partnered with The Pittsburgh Promise to offer employees and students' families of the Pittsburgh Public Schools discounted electricity.
As part of its Direct Choice program with The Pittsburgh Promise, Direct Energy will offer members of the Pittsburgh Public Schools community who receive electricity service from Duquesne Light a 12 month fixed rate plan of 7.49 cents per kWh. This rate is about 20% lower than the Duquesne Light RS Price to Compare in effect through May 31, 2012.
There is no cancellation fee associated with the Direct Energy product.
A portion of the proceeds from the affinity offer will go back to The Pittsburgh Promise, Direct Energy said.
Additionally, Direct Energy donated $100,000 to The Pittsburgh Promise last month.
The Pittsburgh Promise, a scholarship program for Pittsburgh Public School students, advocates for improving the quality of education and increasing the preparedness and diversity of the region's workforce.
