Independence Energy Begins New York Service

Independence Energy is now offering service in New York.
Specifically, Independence Energy is offering electric service to residential and commercial customers at Consolidated Edison and Orange & Rockland.
Independence Energy is the network marketing arm of Energy Plus Holdings, which is a unit of NRG Energy. Independence Energy's expected expansion to New York this fall was first reported in Matters (9/14).
Current residential offers, which are monthly variable rates, are as follows at each utility (in cents per kWh):
ConEd
20% Green: 9.900
100% Green: 11.300
O&R
20% Green: 8.390
100% Green: 9.790
The products include 5% cash back on the supply portion of the customer's bill on an annual basis. The offers also include surge protection coverage up to $1,000 a year, and access to the ecoNew trade-in and recycling program for electronics.
