N.Y. Approves RGE Divestiture Plan

The New York PSC approved without modification a revised auction plan for the divestiture of fossil generation owned by Rochester Gas & Electric and an affiliate (10/24). As previously reported, the revised auction plan separates the original bundle of assets to remove less attractive assets, in the hopes of enticing bids for the generation, as the last auction produced no conforming bids for the single bundle. RG&E will now conduct simultaneous, but separate, auctions for the two combined cycle facilities covered by the divestiture plan: the 62 MW Allegany Station and the 63 MW Carthage Station. Bidders will be asked to bid separately on each asset.

FirstEnergy Solutions Extends Aggregation Enrollment Periods

FirstEnergy Solutions has provided customers not currently in the municipal aggregations in Canton, East Canton, Plain Township, Paris Township, Findlay, Newark, Buckeye Lake, and Osnaburg, Ohio until December 31 to opt in to the programs, which will provide residential customers a rate 8-10% below the AEP Ohio generation rate, depending on locality.

Direct Energy Business Launches 360Direct in Illinois

Direct Energy Business has launched its 360Direct energy management suite in the Illinois marketplace. The suite includes tools for energy management planning and assessment and invoice data management, and an online purchasing platform that provides real-time access to the wholesale electricity market and connects customers with fully transparent pricing from participating wholesale counterparties that meet Direct Energy Business's pre-qualification standards.
