Reliant announced today that it is providing 10,000 free home energy monitors to early-adopter customers.

Reliant has already provided 3,500 home energy monitors free of charge to both early-adopter customers and low-income customers in Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth. An additional 6,500 will be given away to Reliant customers.

The Reliant e-Sense Home Energy Monitor lets customers view the amount of electricity they are using, with data updated as fast as every 10 seconds, and shows the incremental electricity usage which occurs when a customer turns on a new device or appliance.

The home energy monitor also compares daily and weekly usage totals as well as daily, weekly and monthly costs.

Aside from being Reliant customers, in order to be eligible for the free monitor, customers must reside in the Oncor (excluding Wichita Falls) or CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric areas, have a provisioned smart meter, and, due to device limitations, live in a detached home.
