Six investor-owned New York State electric and natural gas utilities have formed Energy Coalition New York to, "provide public policy leadership on energy issues."

Among other things, the coalition will work with the governor and state legislature on energy policies, "to control customer costs."

No specific policies were enumerated in a news release issued this morning; a representative could not be reached prior to publication time.

The coalition consists of:

• Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation

• Consolidated Edison Inc.

• National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation

• National Grid

• New York State Electric & Gas Corporation

• Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation

"The coalition will work with the governor and state legislature on energy policies to control customer costs, reduce environmental emissions, spur economic development, and promote energy efficiency. The coalition also will serve as an informational and educational resource for the media and the public," the news release said.

It is unclear if any of these policies will impact ESCOs, or relate to the procurement and pricing of generation service.
