Decline in Residential Migration Subsides at PPL for a Week

PPL saw net growth in the number of residential customers on competitive supply for the first time in a month, according to the latest statistics from the Pennsylvania PUC.

From January 8 to January 14, PPL saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply increase by 96 accounts. In the previous week, PPL had seen a net decline in residential migration of 473 accounts, and had been seeing a decline in residential customers on competitive supply since early December.
Met-Ed saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply grow by 5,000 accounts from January 12 to January 18. A comparison to week-ago growth is not available.
At PECO, residential migration growth for the week was 1,250 accounts, versus 1,500 a week ago.
Duquesne Light saw the weekly growth in residential migration increase to 2,350 accounts, versus growth of 1,400 a week ago.
Growth in residential migration for the most recent week was 2,200 accounts at Penelec and 860 accounts at West Penn Power; a comparison to week-ago growth is not available at each utility.
Also notable is that for the percent of residential customers on competitive supply, Met-Ed has now crossed the 10% threshold (at 10.3%), and Penelec has reached the 15% threshold (at 15.0%).
Additionally, the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate has posted its electric migration report as of January 1, 2012. The OCA stats include an additional data point not included in the PA Power Switch Stats; namely, the amount of load served by competitive suppliers, in addition to the percent of load
