FirstEnergy Solutions Launches Residential Service in Maryland

FirstEnergy Solutions has begun offering residential electric service in Maryland.

Specifically, FirstEnergy Solutions is offering service at Potomac Edison, and says that its offer is the lowest price on electric generation currently available.

FirstEnergy Solutions is offering residential customers at Potomac Edison a fixed price of 6.25 cents per kilowatt-hour on electric generation through September 2014. FirstEnergy Solutions said that this is a 12 percent savings over Potomac Edison's current average residential rate of 7.068 cents per kWh.

Furthermore, FirstEnergy Solutions is offering an online-only rate of 6.19 cents per kilowatt-hour fixed through September 2014.

An early termination fee of $150 applies to both products.

FirstEnergy Solutions is not currently offering residential service in any other Maryland territory, but said that it is continually evaluating market conditions for such entry.
