Direct Energy has launched several new dynamic pricing products for residential customers at PPL Electric Utilities.

Direct Energy's Free Power Day is a fixed rate plan under which the customer can select one day of the week during which there will be no energy charges; taxes and distribution charges will still apply. The product essentially introduces customization to Direct Energy's previously launched Free Saturdays plan, by allowing the customer to select the day under which there will be zero energy charges.

The Free Power Day plan at PPL includes a 12-month fixed rate of 8.69 cents per kWh, with no early termination fee.

Direct Energy also launched a Best Hourly Rate Plan, which is a 12-month Time of Use product with two tiers.

Usage from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays is charged 8.69 cents per kWh. Weekday usage outside of these hours, and all weekend usage, is charged 6.69 cents per kWh.

There is no early cancellation fee for the Best Hourly Rate Plan.

Customers must have a PPL smart meter to enroll in the new dynamic rate products.
