ComEd Sees Marginal Increase in Growth Rate of Residential Shopping

Residential customers at Commonwealth Edison who have switched to a competitive supplier and completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply increased by 50,000 accounts during the month of February, according to the latest statistics from the Illinois Commerce Commission.

As previously noted, the ICC statistics linked below show customers who have switched to a competitive supplier and have completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply. Accordingly, the data lags completed enrollments.

As of the end of February, 320,744 residential customers at ComEd had completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply, compared with 270,727 as of the end of January.

The net growth of 50,000 ComEd residential customers billed on competitive supply during February is up slightly from the net growth of 45,000 residential customers seen in January.

Residential customers at Ameren who have switched to a competitive supplier and have completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply as of the end of February were as follows:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: 17,103

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: 8,605

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: 29,980

The net growth in residential accounts billed on competitive supply at Ameren during February, compared to the January totals, was as follows:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: +2,816

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: +1,655

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: +5,139

For comparison, the residential migration growth in each Ameren territory during January had been:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: +2,836

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: +1,611

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: +5,119

Migration to competitive supply in the ComEd under 100 kW commercial class increased by 4,300 accounts during February, versus the January total, which compares to growth of 3,000 during January.
