Residential Electric Migration Rebounds at BGE, Surges in All Territories

After February ended 35 consecutive months of growth in the number of residential electric customers taking competitive supply at Baltimore Gas & Electric, March saw a return to growth in residential migration at BGE.

From the end of February to the end of March, BGE saw the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply increase by 4,200 accounts, reversing the February decline of 900 residential shoppers.
That's also the highest monthly growth in residential shoppers at BGE since October 2011.
All of the investor-owned utilities in Maryland saw an acceleration in the growth of residential migration during March.
At Pepco, the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply increased by 2,300 accounts during March, versus the February growth of 500 accounts.
At Potomac Edison (FirstEnergy), the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply increased by 1,300 accounts during March, versus the February growth of 650 accounts. The percent of residential customers who are shopping at Potomac Edison is nearing 10% (stood at 8.5% as of the end of March).
At Delmarva, the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply increased by 850 accounts during March, versus the February growth of 200 accounts.
