Nordic Energy Services Wins Opt-Out Aggregation Contract
Nordic Energy Services announced that it was awarded a contract to supply the opt-out electric aggregation program of Hinsdale, Illinois. Residential customers will receive a fixed rate of 4.6 cents per kWh. Nordic Energy Services won the contract through an RFP administered by the Northern Illinois Municipal Electric Cooperative (NIMEC).
Acclaim Energy Advisors Names Ken Cowan VP of Government/Education
Broker-consultant Acclaim Energy Advisors announced that it has named Ken Cowan as Vice President of Government & Education to lead education and public sector business development. Cowan previously served as Vice President of the West Public Sector at Constellation NewEnergy, where he was in charge of negotiations and deal structuring for retail natural gas and electric power solutions. Cowan also worked on demand response for government entities in deregulated markets located in the western half of the U.S.
ERCOT Files Annual REC Compliance & Trading Report
ERCOT has filed its annual report on the Texas renewable energy credit trading program, which is notable for disclosing the REC obligation of each REP for 2010, which was based on each REP's load. ERCOT also said that for the fourth consecutive year, the RECs retired in the voluntary market for 2011 exceeded the mandatory retirements. In 2011, 15.29 million RECs were retired in the voluntary market, a 29 percent increase over 2010's record of 11.83 million. Mandatory REC retirements in 2011 were 9 million RECs.
