TXU Energy Offering Email Alerts to Inform Customers if Electric Costs Projected to Exceed Budget

TXU Energy said this morning that it has launched free budget alerts that automatically warn customers via email if their current electricity usage could lead to a bill that's higher than the customer's chosen spending threshold.
The alerts are available to any TXU Energy customer with a provisioned advanced meter.
Customers may enroll in the program via TXU's website, where they set a monthly budget for their electricity costs. After that, email alerts follow when a customer's forecasted costs are equal to or expected to exceed the threshold set by the customer. The spending threshold is compared to a forecast, not the actual bill.
Similar alerts follow to let customers know when they are back on budget.
"We know our customers have a choice in providers, so making it simple and convenient to stay in control of how much energy they use at home is one more way we're striving to earn their business and their loyalty," said Michael Grasso, chief marketing officer of TXU Energy.
TXU said that the launch of the new alerts follows another free "push" email tool that TXU Energy provides customers with ongoing updates on home electricity usage, specifically, weekly electricity usage reports.
