PPL Sees Two Consecutive Weeks of Residential Shopping Growth for First Time in Months

PPL Electric saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply increase for two consecutive weeks for the first time in several months, according to the most recent data from the Pennsylvania PUC.

From May 13 to May 19, PPL saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply increase by 209 accounts, double the week-ago growth of 105 accounts.

In the most recent week, PECO saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply grow by 2,100 accounts, about even with the week-ago growth of 2,200 accounts.

At Met-Ed, the weekly growth in the number of residential customers on competitive supply for the most recent week was about 1,500 accounts, essentially even with the week-ago growth.

At Penelec, the weekly growth in the number of residential customers on competitive supply for the most recent week was 850 accounts, versus the growth of 1,000 accounts in the immediately prior week.

At West Penn Power, the weekly growth in the number of residential customers on competitive supply for the most recent week was 700 accounts, versus the growth of 460 accounts in the immediately prior week.

In the most recent week, Duquesne Light saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply increase by 1,100 accounts, versus the week-ago growth of 1,400 accounts.

Also notable is that, as reported in the PUC stats, West Penn Power saw a significant increase in the number of industrial accounts on competitive supply, with 438 newly shopping industrial accounts in the most recent week. Typically, incremental industrial migration to or from competitive supply is in the single digits week to week.
