Growth in ComEd Residential Shopping Up Slightly During April

Residential customers at Commonwealth Edison who have switched to a competitive supplier and completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply increased by 30,000 accounts during the month of April, according to the latest statistics from the Illinois Commerce Commission.

As previously noted, the ICC statistics linked below show customers who have switched to a competitive supplier and have completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply. Accordingly, the data lags completed enrollments.

As of the end of April, 374,212 residential customers at ComEd had completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply, compared with 344,217 as of the end of March.

The net growth of 30,000 ComEd residential customers billed on competitive supply during April is up from the growth of 23,000 during March, but still lags the February growth of 50,000.

Residential customers at Ameren who have switched to a competitive supplier and have completed at least one billing cycle on competitive supply as of the end of April were as follows:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: 24,849

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: 11,655

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: 41,134

The net growth in residential accounts billed on competitive supply at Ameren during April, compared to the March totals, was as follows:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: +3,705

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: +1,336

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: +5,417

For comparison, the residential migration growth in each Ameren territory during March had been:

Rate Zone I, AmerenCIPS: +4,041

Rate Zone II, AmerenCILCO: +1,714

Rate Zone III, AmerenIP: +5,737

Migration to competitive supply in the ComEd under 100 kW commercial class increased by 2,500 accounts during April, up from growth of 2,000 during March.
