RESA Forms Policy Monitoring Group for MD-DC-VA Gas Markets

The Retail Energy Supply Association has established a regulatory policy monitoring group to advance retail natural gas competition issues in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. David Cetola, Director of Regulatory Affairs for natural gas operations at Hess Corporation, was elected to chair the monitoring group.

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA announced the launch of a complimentary, mobile-optimized application designed to give energy buyers direct access to historical electricity pricing data through smartphones and similar devices. The app (www.gdfsuezapps.com) allows users, by entering a specific territory or zone, to view daily, weekly, and monthly historical pricing trends for both real-time and day-ahead energy for PJM, NYISO, ERCOT, MISO, and ISO-New England.

N.H. Approves Sale of Distribution Companies from National Grid to Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. Subsidiary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (APUC) announced that the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission has approved the previously reported acquisition of National Grid's Granite State Electric Company and EnergyNorth Natural Gas Inc. by Liberty Utilities, APUC's regulated distribution utility. Both New Hampshire distribution companies offer choice programs (C&I only at EnergyNorth). The closing of the acquisition is expected to occur on or about July 3, 2012, APUC said.
