Reliant Reports Innovation Avenue Pilot Successfully Reducing Customer Usage

Reliant said during the first six months of its Innovation Avenue smart energy pilot (see earlier story for description), residents have reduced their electricity usage by an average of 17%. The results varied by home and were based on services provided and the choices made by the residents after the technologies were installed in their homes. Reliant said that this summer will mark the next phase of Innovation Avenue's testing as residents participate in new Reliant pilot programs involving demand response and smart thermostats. Based on ongoing feedback from the families over the next two years, Reliant said that it will continue to design and deliver smart energy technology for broader audiences. Reliant said that more than 600,000 Reliant customers are using one its e-Sense branded products, which range from weekly usage summary emails and other informational tools to formal pricing plans such as Time of Use.

TXU Energy Reports Customer Use of Mobile Site, Apps

TXU Energy said that since the launch of its mobile website and iPhone app a year ago, customers using the app and mobile website have used their mobile devices for nearly 800,000 account transactions, including more than 230,000 payments. Mobile customers have logged into their accounts nearly 700,000 times, and more than 50,000 customers have downloaded the free app (also available on iPad and iPod touch) from the App Store, TXU said.
