REC marketer and renewable energy developer Community Energy has applied to become a load-serving retail supplier in Pennsylvania.

Community Energy currently holds a Pennsylvania aggregator and broker/marketer license, but does not serve retail load. Aside from supplying RECs, Community Energy markets renewable energy retail supply from Verde Energy under a marketing agreement.

Community Energy has now applied to amend its license to become a load-serving electric supplier, to serve all customer classes at PECO, Met-Ed, PPL, Duquesne Light, and West Penn Power.

Subject to the license amendment, Community Energy stated that it plans to begin serving load September 1, 2012.
