Liberty Power Named Largest Hispanic-owned Energy Company in U.S.
Liberty Power announced that it was named the largest Hispanic-owned energy company in the country by Hispanic Business Inc. The company was also recognized as the eighth largest Hispanic-owned company overall. The Hispanic Business 500 list ranks, by revenue, the 500 largest Hispanic-owned companies in the United States. Liberty Power reported $655 million in revenues in 2011.
Diversified Energy Supply Executes First WMBE Wholesale Power Sale to California Utility
Diversified Energy Supply said that it, "successfully executed the first WMBE [Women and Minority Business Enterprise] wholesale power transaction within the California ISO system." The company said that it sold wholesale power to one of the three largest investor owned utilities during the month of June. The company President, Fernando de Aguero, stated, "We have been working with the various market participants and constituents to bring the vision of the California Public Utility Commission's general order 156 to fruition in the marketplace ... We're proud to be able to bring together industry expertise and relationships in the marketplace, to position ourselves as the first WMBE wholesale power market entrant in California, and to add wholesale power supply to our established wholesale natural gas business line."
