Independence Energy Group, LLC applied for an Ohio electric supplier license to serve residential and commercial customers in all service areas. Independence Energy Group LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Plus Holdings LLC, an NRG Energy, Inc. company. A network marketer, Independence Energy is currently serving customers in the entire state of New Jersey, the entire state of Connecticut, in the Commonwealth Edison service area of Illinois, in the PECO and Duquesne service areas of Pennsylvania, and the Consolidated Edison and Orange & Rockland service areas of New York. Service at Met-Ed and Penelec is anticipated to launch sometime this year.
