Growth in Residential Migration Recedes from April High at BGE, But Still Robust

The growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply at Baltimore Gas & Electric slowed in the months of May and June versus the strong April growth, but was still robust during each month, according to the May and June migration data newly posted by the PSC.

At Baltimore Gas & Electric, the growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply was as follows over the prior two months:

From April 2012 to May 2012: +4,700

From May 2012 to June 2012: +3,300

While these monthly growth rates are down from the growth of 7,500 residential shoppers from March 2012 to April 2012, they are still strong monthly totals, and continue a rebound from the loss of migrated residential customers experienced by BGE during February.

At Pepco, the growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply was as follows over the prior two months:

From April 2012 to May 2012: +2,350

From May 2012 to June 2012: +3,200

These monthly growth totals are an improvement over the growth of 1,600 residential shoppers from March 2012 to April 2012.

At Potomac Edison, the growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply was as follows over the prior three months:

From March 2012 to April 2012: +900

From April 2012 to May 2012: +900

From May 2012 to June 2012: +1,250

At Delmarva, the growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply was as follows over the prior three months:

From March 2012 to April 2012: +1,300

From April 2012 to May 2012: +1,450

From May 2012 to June 2012: +1,200

As a percent of residential electric customers, Maryland migration to competitive supply was as follows for the month ending June 2012:

BGE: 25.2%

Delmarva: 12.9%

Pepco: 22.8%

Potomac Edison: 9.9%
