The Maine PUC has adopted new Standard Offer rates for medium and large commercial and industrial customers at Central Maine Power and Bangor Hydro-Electric.

Specifically, new rates were set for medium commercial customers for the period September 2012 through February 2013.

For large customers, for the same six-month period, the PUC said that the accepted bids are indexed to the market, and prices will be set by the PUC in advance of each month based on current market prices. An order describing the process was not immediately available; it was unclear how similar the process will be to the currently used monthly market rate mechanism for large commercial customers
