CenterPoint Energy Services Launches Mass Market Shopping Comparison Website

Broker CenterPoint Energy Services, Inc. has officially launched a mass market-focused electric shopping website for the ERCOT market.

The expansion of CenterPoint Energy Services into small volume customers, and launch of an online portal, had been anticipated for several months.

The site, myTrueCost.com, features a prominent logo of corporate parent CenterPoint Energy.

Currently, the site only lists offers from REPs in the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric territory, but CenterPoint Energy Services, Inc. anticipates expanding the site to additional territories in ERCOT in the future.

The site states that retail electric providers pay a "flat fee" for each consumer who enrolls through the website.

CenterPoint Energy Services, Inc. said that myTrueCost.com:

• Estimates the true monthly cost of electric plans – including fees and charges.

• Allows consumers to compare REPs based on customer ratings, green-energy content, deposit requirements and contract terms.

• Is designed to work with smart meters and, with consumer permission, the site can access usage data and calculate the cost of various plans.

• Can use basic information about a consumer's residence to receive cost estimates based on an average-use profile if consumers are not interested in using their home's usage data.
