AEP Ohio Launches Stakeholder Process to Develop Default Service Auction Rules, Format

AEP Ohio has begun the process to launch a stakeholder group to develop procedures for the utility's competitive default service auctions.
Though PUCO previously ordered the use of auctions for a portion of default service load as early as June 1, 2014, specific details of the auction, including format, timing, and product length, were delegated to a future proceeding.
As an initial step in the default service auction stakeholder process, AEP Ohio solicited interest from the parties of record to determine who would like to participate in the stakeholder process as it moves forward. To that end, any interested party should send an expression of interest that lists individual email addresses for persons that wish to be involved on behalf of the party to the following email address: ohiocbp@aep.com.
In order to allow for parties to express interest and maximize participation prior to discussing substantive issues in the competitive bidding process stakeholder initiative, AEP Ohio will not conduct the first meeting for at least 14 days from a September 7 notice soliciting participation.
AEP Ohio also noted that since several aspects of PUCO's electric security plan order are subject to rehearing requests, the competitive bid plan stakeholder process will initially focus on issues not addressed in any application for rehearing that is filed.
