Retail Suppliers Ask Wisconsin to Investigate Retail Choice

The Retail Energy Supply Association asked the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to open a formal proceeding to consider the introduction of a competitive retail electric market. The comments came in response to the PSC's Draft Strategic Energy Assessment and a prior assessment's direction to mitigate rising electric rates. RESA's comments follow earlier comments from the COMPETE Coalition which also asked the PSC to explore competition. In contrast, the Citizens Utility Board said that the PSC should adopt an integrated resource plan to mitigate high electric rates.

Parties Oppose Accelerated Electric Security Plan Review Sought by Dayton Power & Light

Several joint parties, including FirstEnergy Solutions Corp., Industrial Energy Users-Ohio, Ohio Energy Group, and the Ohio Consumer's Counsel called Dayton Power & Light's sought schedule on its yet-to-be-filed electric security plan, "completely unrealistic," stating, "DP&L seeks, unilaterally, to impose an extremely aggressive procedural schedule on other interested parties while retaining maximum flexibility for itself." The joint filers said that, "There is no justification for rushing this matter to hearing in five weeks simply because DP&L devoted significant time to its proposed Market Rate Offer." As previously reported, Dayton Power and Light said that it intends to file an electric security plan to govern the procurement and pricing of Standard Service Offer supply on or before October 8, 2012, and asked for a PUCO decision by December 17, 2012
