Duke Energy Retail Reports Lower Results

Duke Energy Retail results were about $7 million lower for the quarter ending September 30, 2012 versus the year-ago quarter, Duke Energy said in reporting earnings yesterday.
Overall, the Commercial Power segment, which includes retail supplier Duke Energy Retail, saw adjusted earnings of $31 million, versus $74 million a year ago, with the decline largely attributed to lower results for its Midwest generation due to the impact from the market-based electric security plan implemented at Duke Energy Ohio.
Duke said that no long-term strategic decisions related to its Ohio generating asset portfolio will be made until it has clarity on its petition to recover additional capacity costs related to its Ohio generating assets through a nonbypassable rider
