Constellation Serving Competitive Electric Load in Arizona

Constellation is now serving competitive electric load in Arizona under the Arizona Public Service wholesale "buy-through" mechanism.
As first reported by Matters, the APS "buy-through" mechanism is a program that allows customers to choose their source of wholesale supply, with APS still serving the customer at retail.
As more fully discussed by Matters in our May 28 story, the program is capped at 200 MW, and customers must have aggregate demand of at least 10 MW to be eligible for the service (see prior story for more restrictions on participation).
In Arizona, Constellation is serving Marriott under the APS buy-through program.
"The enthusiastic response to this program clearly indicates customers are eager for the benefits of competition and the potential for retail choice in Arizona," said Mark Huston, senior vice president and head of retail for Constellation.
Marriott began taking service under this program on Dec. 1, 2012. To initiate the service, Constellation has executed a trilateral wholesale supply agreement with Marriott and APS, which will be administered by the company's Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. and Constellation Energy Commodities Group, Inc. subsidiaries.
