Ameren Energy Marketing Awarded Contracts for 55 Opt-Out Aggregations

The consultant group, Good Energy, representing 55 central and southern Illinois communities, announced that Homefield Energy, a brand of Ameren Energy Marketing, has been selected to serve as the residential electric supplier for opt-out electric aggregations in those communities.

In May 2012, Homefield Energy was selected as the winning supplier to 50 Illinois communities which passed referenda to participate in municipal aggregation, representing more than 200,000 customers. With today's announcement, Homefield Energy will now supply electricity to a total of nearly 500,000 homes and small businesses in Illinois.

The new supply rate will provide an estimated 24 percent savings on the supply rate for an average residential customer that uses approximately 800 kilowatt hours per month, Ameren Energy Marketing said.

According to Good Energy, Homefield Energy will deliver electricity at a contract rates of $0.03909 per kilowatt hour (kWh) – $0.04099 cents – during the span of the 17 month contract

According to Good Energy, the communities are as follows: Albers, Arcola, Ashmore, Bartonville, Beckemeyer, Belleville, Camargo, Centralia, Cerro Gordo, Charleston, City of Madison, City of Venice, unincorporated Champaign County, unincorporated Coles County, unincorporated Crawford County, Decatur, East Alton, Edwardsville, Effingham, Forsyth, Granite City, Hartford, Hopewell, Humboldt, Hutsonville, Jerseyville, Lerna, Lovington, Mahomet, Mason, Mattoon, Neoga, Normal, Oakland, Oblong, O'Fallon, Ogden, Olney, Palestine, Paris, Pittsfield, unincorporated Richland County, Robinson, Roxana, Salem, Savoy, South Roxana, Sparland, Teutopolis, Troy, Tuscola, Village of Hamel, Village of Maryville, Village of Pontoon Beach and Wood River.

According to Good Energy, the new aggregations include 230,000 household, and with such programs Good Energy now represents about 520,000 households in Illinois.
