Constellation Awarded Defense Logistics Agency Supply Contract
Constellation announced that it has been selected for an estimated $46.8 million electricity supply contract by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) following a competitive bidding process. Under the terms of the two-year agreement, Constellation will supply up to 780,600 megawatt-hours of electricity to six, D.C. area Navy facilities, beginning in December 2012. The DLA contract will supply electricity to Navy facilities including Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Naval Maritime Intelligence Center, Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock, the Navy Medical Center Bethesda, the U.S. Naval Observatory Washington and Washington Navy Yard. Constellation currently serves more than 380 federal government sites and 4,000 government customers in 47 states.
Northampton, Mass. Joins Hampshire Council of Governments Opt-out Aggregation
The City of Northampton, Massachusetts, has become the 33rd community to join the Hampshire Council of Governments' opt-out electricity aggregation program, the Council recently announced. The Council's aggregation program remains pending at the DPU.
Texas Staff File Report on Advanced Meter Health Concerns
Staff of the Public Utility Commission of Texas have posted a report on Staff's investigation into the health concerns related to advanced meters. In brief, "Staff has determined that the large body of scientific research reveals no definite or proven biological effects from exposure to low-level RF signals. Further, Staff found no credible evidence to suggest that advanced meters emit harmful amounts of EMF." Staff's report can be found in Project 40190 (click here for report).
