Frontier Communications Launches Retail Energy Business

Frontier Communications Corporation formally announced its offering of retail electric and natural gas supply through a marketing agreement with FTR Energy Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crius Energy.
The launch of FTR Energy Services was first reported by Matters, and service has been offered under a soft launch for a few months.
Operating in 27 states, Frontier is the largest communications services provider in the United States that focuses on rural areas and small and medium-sized towns and cities. Frontier had 3.3 million residential access lines, 2.0 million business access lines, 1.8 million high speed internet subscribers and 558,000 video subscribers as at December 31, 2011. Certain Frontier subsidiaries operate as the Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier in certain areas(ILEC).
Frontier Communications said that FTR Energy Services is offering 100% wind power, as well as natural gas, with 5 percent cash back on energy supply.
Both fixed and variable rate plans are available for each commodity.
