Southern California Edison has petitioned the California PUC to recover costs of the 45 MW McGrath Peaker Generating Station, with such recovery applying to all "benefiting" customers, not just bundled service customers.

As of the end of 2012, SCE had incurred total McGrath acquisition and installation costs of approximately $70 million.

"SCE also hereby requests authorization to allocate these costs pursuant to the cost- and benefit-sharing mechanism established under D.06-07-029, allocating McGrath Peaker costs among all SCE benefiting customer[s], as described in that Decision, rather than only among SCE's bundled service customers."

"Although the McGrath Peaker is SCE-developed and –owned, this is the appropriate ratemaking treatment of these costs," SCE said.
