Backslide: JCP&L Sees Loss of Residential Customers on Competitive Supply

Jersey Central Power & Light saw a decrease in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply during December, according to the latest stats on the BGS auction site.

From the end of November to the end of December, Jersey Central Power & Light saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by 263 accounts, versus the growth of 2,400 accounts on competitive supply during November. During December, JCP&L saw only a marginal decrease in residential accounts eligible for competitive supply (less than the total loss of shoppers, in fact).

From the end of November to the end of December, Public Service Electric & Gas saw growth in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply fall sharply. The December growth in residential shopping was only 1,050 accounts, versus the November growth of 7,700 accounts.

Atlantic City Electric saw residential migration to competitive supply grow by 600 accounts during December, down from growth of 2,300 accounts during November.

Rockland Electric saw residential migration growth of 333 accounts during December, versus growth of 191 accounts in November.

As a percent of residential accounts, migration to competitive electric supply in New Jersey as of December 31 was:

Atlantic City Electric: 18.71%

Jersey Central Power & Light: 18.32%

Public Service Electric & Gas: 13.47%

Rockland Electric: 10.63%
