Washington Gas Light Sees Decline in Residential Shopping for Second Consecutive Quarter

Washington Gas Light saw a decline in the number of Maryland residential customers on competitive supply for a second consecutive quarter, while Baltimore Gas & Electric saw higher growth in natural gas shopping, according to the latest data from the Maryland PSC.

From September 30, 2012 to December 31, 2012, Washington Gas Light saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by 900 accounts. This follows a decline of 400 residential shoppers from June 30, 2012 to September 30, 2012.
From September 30, 2012 to December 31, 2012, WGL saw the number of residential accounts eligible for choice increase by more than 4,000.
Some 78,000 residential customers at WGL in Maryland were on competitive gas supply at December 31, 2012, or 18.7% of eligible accounts.
From September 30, 2012 to December 31, 2012, Baltimore Gas & Electric saw the number of residential gas customers on competitive supply increase by 10,000 accounts, nearly double the growth of 5,600 accounts from June 30, 2012 to September 30, 2012.
Some 131,000 residential customers at BGE now take competitive gas supply, or about 21% of eligible accounts
