Edison Mission Veterans Launching New Retail Energy Company

Several veterans of Edison Mission Marketing and Trading are launching a start-up retail energy broker.

Specifically, Genbright, LLC applied for a Maine electric broker license to serve large non-residential customers at Central Maine Power, Bangor Hydro-Electric, and Maine Public Service.

Genbright, LLC said that it has also submitted broker license applications in Massachusetts and New Jersey, and is also registering to do business in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia, suggesting that licenses will eventually be sought in such jurisdictions as well.

Joe Crespo is President and founder of Genbright, LLC. Prior to founding Genbright, Crespo was responsible for launching and developing short-term power trading strategies at a small hedge fund that has doubled in assets under management since his arrival in January 2011. Previously, at Edison Mission Marketing and Trading, Crespo led the power and fuels analytical teams in developing new proprietary trading, asset, and retail hedging strategies. Crespo previously held positions at Wood Mackenzie and NERA.

Eric Ramras serves as Head of Operations for Genbright, LLC. Ramras previously served at EMMT and its predecessors for over 15 years, most recently as Managing Director, Operations.

Robert Geoffrey Mathews serves as lead corporate counsel for Genbright, LLC. Most recently, Mathews served as Assistant General Counsel with Exelon and previously held a variety of roles at EMMT.

Douglas Gay, an energy industry veteran with significant experience in the development and optimization of assets specific to the energy market with a focus on the renewable energy, serves as head of business development for Genbright, LLC.
