A new poll by Marketing Resource Group shows that 82% of Michigan consumers want the freedom to shop for electricity service, Energy Choice Now said yesterday.
More than two-thirds of Michigan voters now strongly believe they should have the freedom to shop for a competitive electricity supplier, Energy Choice Now said.
The results of the recent statewide poll by Marketing Resource Group of 600 likely voters show that 70% of Michiganders are more likely to vote for candidates who support energy choice -- the majority of them saying that it's a strong determining factor, Energy Choice Now said. That reflects a three-fold increase from just 6 months ago, Energy Choice Now said.
The poll also showed more than 7 out of 10 voters believe that energy choice is an important factor to turning the Michigan economy around. One-third said it's a very important factor, Energy Choice Now said.
Support for electric competition is strong across party lines, with 81% support among self-identified Democrats and Independents, respectively, and 85% support among self-identified Republicans, Energy Choice Now said.
Marketing Resource Group's Spring 2013 MRG Michigan Poll was conducted March 17 through March 23. The random sample consists of 600 likely voters who indicated that they will be voting in the November 2014 general election. It has a margin of error of ±4 percentage points or less within a 95 percent degree of confidence.
